Connecting the ClusterVisor Appliance to Your Network
When the ClusterVisor appliance is received, it will be pre-configured with default values and any custom settings requested by the customer. Once the appliance is in place, it will need a connection that will enable administrators and users to connect into the appliance from the institution’s network. This will require an assigned IP address at a minimum, though it is recommended to also assign a DNS record for ease of connectivity.
At the rear of the appliance you will see a red ethernet cable (denoting the IPMI serial connection) and a black ethernet cable (for the 1Gb network connectivity). In the next available port alongside the black cable is where the ethernet cable connecting the appliance to institution network should be plugged in:

An example of the second generation appliance. Red cable = IPMI/BMC; Black cable = management (private to cluster); Orange cable = internet (public to cluster). SFP optional add-on.
To connect your head or login node to your institution’s network for user access, the same procedure should be followed - IP address, DNS record, network cable in available ethernet port next to black cable.
Once those have been assigned, the appliance has been connected to the institution’s internal network and the cluster has been powered on, connectivity to the rest of the cluster can be verified by navigating to the appliance IP address or domain name, logging in with the cv-admin user credentials provided in a red envelope with the cluster, and looking at the Dashboard to ensure stats and statuses are being pulled and received from all nodes and devices.
